Opening Doors Dancers at EU Presidency event

‘Between the 5 and 7 April 2017, Malta hosted an international conference organised by the European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education and the Ministry for Education and Employment involved around 180 participants from across Europe. This conference explored ways to raise achievement and reduce inequalities in education through innovative and collaborative approaches that support the development of inclusive values and practice for all learners, school and community stakeholders. Learners were also actively involved in discussions to discover ‘what really works’ in supporting their learning in inclusive settings.

Maria Gauci, Saviour Pace, Peter Fenech and Sylvana Cassar, all Opening Doors dancers, performed at an EU Presidency event, under the direction of Ms Alison White.

On the 6 April, a Gala dinner was held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre, Valletta.  Prior to this dinner, dancers from Opening Doors joined students of Alison White Dance Studio, under the direction of Alison White, in performing a Maltese folk dance for guests. The performances were received with great joy by the delegates, with even the chairperson of the conference personally congratulating all the performers.
